Description

You'll experience a photo walking tour in the popular Montmartre area where the famous french movie Amelie Poulain was filmed almost 20 years ago.  The photo class starts at les Abbesses in Montmartre in a traditional French coffee shop where you'll learn about the basics of photography and master how to capture creative shoots using the manual mode of your camera. After the theory, we'll hit the streets and head towards a customized itinerary following Amelie Poulain footsteps in this idyllic quarter, a little village within Paris visited every year by thousands of travellers from around the world. We'll mainly walk through little cobblestone streets and climb up the hill the French call "La Butte" in order to reach the Sacré-Coeur church and admire the breathtaking view of the city from there. On the way, we'll stop at the different locations featured in the movie and I'll tell you little stories about the area and its people.

The photography tour starts at 2PM in a French traditional coffee shop in Montmartre area, a nice little popular village within the city. After a brief introduction of each participant around a coffee/tea/drink (included in the tour), we'll go through the table and learn about each participant's camera, background and motivation about photography. In this workshop, we'll get out of our comfort zone and mainly learn and practice how to use the manual mode of the camera to become a better photographer (a DSLR is necessary, a smartphone is not appropriate in this situation). We'll also discuss about material and equipment such as lenses and how to use them for appropriate occasion. A little surprised gift will be offered to each participant during the workshop. After we've learnt the setting and the different modes of the camera, the second part of the experience will take place in the streets to practice what has been learnt in theory during the workshop. After we've hit the streets, we'll bring you to the little corners of the neighborhood and we'll photograph many famous landmarks following a customized itinerary including some of the most historical ones such as the Love Wall (les Abbesses), Studio 28 (the cinema featured in Amelie Poulain's movie), Le Moulin de la Galette (a famous restaurant and former windmill), Dalida's house (a famous French actress and singer adored by the Montmartrois), Le Clos Montmartre (the only Vineyard left), Place Dalida where her statue is located, Le Passe-Muraille (a sculpture inspired by French author Marcel Aymé), Place du Tertre (where painters draw pictures of travellers), Sacré-Coeur (at the top of the hill and second most visited church after Notre-Dame) and many others. Along the way, we'll see how artists such as Van Gogh, Dali, Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec and others lived in the past and gathered in the neighborhood to talk about their art. While walking and taking photos along the way, we'll see street performances such as instrument players, painters, dancers and singers that all contribute to the creative and artistic atmosphere of Montmartre. We'll also walk through little cobblestones streets as well as secret and hidden places this beautiful quarter has to offer while we'll tell you about the little stories of the area. At the end of the tour, you'll be dropped-off at Anvers metro station (line 2) where the group will split and go in different directions. A few days after the experience, backstage photos of the tour and portraits photos taken during the photo workshop will be sent to each participant as a memory of their time in this beautiful district of Paris. This walking tour does not include any transportation nor admission tickets for any visit. Extra meal, additional drink or extra purchase will be at the cost of each participant during the tour.
