Description

Enjoy a half-day trip outside of Paris to Giverny, formerly home to Impressionist master Claude Monet. Accompanied by a guide, you'll see the house, garden, and water lily pond where he lived and painted, plus visit Musée des Impressionnismes, dedicated to the history of the Impressionist movement. Hotel pickup and drop-off is provided.

After pickup by your guide at your Paris accommodation, board the minivan for the drive (roughly 1.5 hours) to Giverny, where you will walk in the footsteps of Claude Monet.

When you arrive at Claude Monet's House and Gardens, you are free to wander through the rows of vibrant flowers in front of the home, and then stroll over to the water lily pond and Japanese bridge, which you'll recognize from some of Monet's most famous paintings. Take in a variety of vegetation, including cherry trees, tulips, roses, wisteria, weeping willows, and irises.

Inside the house, you can see the kitchen, dining room, living spaces, and bedrooms, and admire his collection of Japanese prints on the walls. The leader of the Impressionist movement of the 19th century, Monet introduced more perception, emotion, and light into art of his age, and he spent almost 40 years developing his Giverny property. You can also take a look at his workshop.

Afterward, head to the Musée des Impressionnismes (Museum of Impressionism), a tribute to Impressionists around the world. The museum depicts the history of this beloved artistic movement and features The Garden, designed by landscape painter Mark Rudkin, which offers a colorful nod to the themes dear to the Impressionists. Explore the permanent gallery, Monet Around, to learn about the influence of Monet and his contemporaries on the generations that followed them, and check out the temporary exhibitions, which change twice a year to provide a renewed perspective of the Impressionist movement.

Your tour ends with return to Paris.
